When Singapore Airlines was formed in 1972, it operated a modest fleet of 10 aircraft to just 22 cities in 18 countries. With a commitment to fleet modernisation, product and service innovation and market leadership, the Airline quickly distinguished itself as a world-class carrier. Today, Singapore Airlines is internationally recognised as the world’s leading airline, and its iconic cabin crew – the Singapore Girl, with her trademark sarong kebaya - has also grown into an industry icon, the embodiment of Asian warmth and hospitality. Its current network, including Singapore Airlines Cargo, SilkAir and codeshare services, covers 227 destinations in 53 countries.

Back in the 1970s, Singapore Airlines was the first to offer free drinks, complimentary headsets and a choice of meals in Economy Class. In 2007, Singapore Airlines once again made aviation history by being the first airline to put the world’s largest passenger aircraft – the Airbus A380 – into service between Singapore and Sydney. The Singapore Airlines A380 now operates to the following cities: Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Shanghai, London, Los Angeles, Melbourne, New York City, Paris, Sydney, Tokyo, Zurich, Mumbai and New Delhi.

Singapore Airlines recognises the importance of building strong relationships not only with its customers and business partners, but also with the communities it serves. The Airline actively support the arts, sports, as well as educational and environmental initiatives, both locally and abroad. It is also committed to helping the less privileged, sponsoring programmes for the needy.
